Where Are Our Leaders?

I guess I just assumed there were delicate checks and balances in place to prevent a collapse of our economy. I feel like Dorothy when she discovered the great and all powerful Oz was just an old, feeble man behind a curtain. In December, GM told Congress that they planned to cut 31,000 jobs and close 9 plants by 2012. Last night GM presented a more aggressive plan; I think I heard 47,000 employees would lose their jobs and 14 plants were closing. Wow, I didn’t see that coming. I was busy working, riding, and being a dad when everything fell apart.

This is a bicycling blog and I have very little interest in politics but this affects bicycling. I was about to bid on a beautiful Chris King single speed wheelset on ebay but decided wheels might be the least of my concerns this month. They went for $180; a good deal for someone.
